Postcode to Lat Long Converter
Look up the latitude and longitude of any UK postcode, or click the map to find the nearest postcode to a point.
Type a UK postcode and get its latitude and longitude coordinates, shown on a map. You can convert one postcode at a time or paste up to 500 in batch mode. Need the reverse? Click anywhere on the map to find the nearest postcode. Results come in decimal degrees and DMS, and you can download everything as a CSV. Coordinates are sourced from Ordnance Survey open data covering 1.7 million postcodes, and all lookups happen locally in your browser.
How to Get Lat Long from a UK Postcode
Type any UK postcode into the box above and you'll get its latitude and longitude straight away, plotted on a map. The coordinates come from Ordnance Survey open data covering 1.7 million postcodes, so the lookup is fast and doesn't depend on any external API.
If you've got a list of postcodes you need coordinates for, switch to Batch mode and paste up to 500 at once. They'll all be converted in one go and you can download the results as a CSV. You can also go the other way - click anywhere on the map in reverse mode to find the nearest postcode to that point.
How the Postcode Converter Works
- Enter a postcode - type a single UK postcode, or paste up to 500 in batch mode
- Click Convert - the lat/long is looked up from local Ordnance Survey data
- See it on the map - each postcode gets a marker with its coordinates
- Export or copy - download a CSV, copy to clipboard, or grab a shareable link
Decimal Degrees vs DMS Format
You can toggle between two coordinate formats:
- Decimal degrees - e.g. 51.501009, -0.141588. This is what most software, APIs, and spreadsheets expect.
- DMS (degrees, minutes, seconds) - e.g. 51ยฐ 30' 3.63" N, 0ยฐ 8' 29.72" W. The traditional format you'll see on paper maps and in navigation.
The CSV export always includes both formats, so you don't need to worry about picking the right one before downloading.
Find a Postcode from Lat Long (Reverse Lookup)
Need to go the other way? Switch to reverse mode and click anywhere on the map. The tool searches all 1.7 million postcodes locally to find the closest one to where you clicked, and shows the distance between the two points. This works entirely in your browser with no API calls, so it's fast even on a slow connection.
Batch Postcode to Lat Long Conversion
If you've got a spreadsheet or list of postcodes that need converting, batch mode is the quickest way. Paste up to 500 postcodes (one per line), hit Convert, and they're all looked up at once. Each one gets a numbered marker on the map, and you can click any result to jump to it. The CSV download includes the postcode, decimal coordinates, and DMS coordinates for every entry.
