Built on Official UK Data
Every tool on MapTools.uk is backed by official, publicly available datasets. Crime statistics come from Police.uk, flood risk ratings from the Environment Agency, school data and exam results from the Department for Education, food hygiene scores from the Food Standards Agency, and fuel prices from the government's open data initiative. Maps and geocoding are provided by OpenStreetMap.
We download and process these datasets on a regular schedule. Fuel prices update daily. Crime data refreshes weekly. Flood risk ratings are updated quarterly, and school performance data follows the annual DfE publication cycle. All of this is converted into lightweight JSON files that your browser loads directly, so the tools are fast and work reliably even if the original data source is temporarily offline.
