Sheffield Fuel Prices Today

The map above shows live prices from petrol stations across Sheffield, Rotherham, and the wider South Yorkshire area. Prices come directly from the UK Government's fuel price transparency scheme, updated daily by each participating retailer. Tap any station for the current price per litre, brand, distance, and a link to navigate there.

With around 70 reporting stations within 10 miles of the city centre, there's real variation between the cheapest supermarket forecourts and the priciest branded sites. That gap is usually 5-8p per litre, so it pays to check before you fill up.

Cheapest Petrol Stations in Sheffield

The cheapest fuel in Sheffield is almost always at the supermarket forecourts on the east side of the city. Asda has strong coverage with sites at Handsworth, Manor Top, and Darnall. Tesco at Savile Street is one of the closest budget options to the city centre. Morrisons at Catcliffe, right by M1 Junction 33, is a solid option if you're heading onto the motorway.

The Meadowhall and Lower Don Valley area has several stations competing for the same traffic, which keeps prices keen. If you're anywhere near the M1 corridor, this is the cheapest stretch in the city.

Fuel Prices by Area

Sheffield has a clear east-west price split. The east side - Attercliffe, Darnall, Handsworth, the Meadowhall corridor - is where the bulk of the supermarket forecourts sit. Competition is strong and prices reflect that.

The west side is a different picture. As you head along Ecclesall Road towards Dore, Totley, and the Peak District fringe, stations get sparser and prices creep up. There's less supermarket competition out this way, and the smaller independent-brand sites charge accordingly. If you live in the south-west suburbs, a detour to Archer Road Sainsbury's or one of the Asda sites further east is often worth it.

The Penistone Road and Hillsborough corridor running north-west has a decent spread of options. Morrisons at Hillsborough and Sainsbury's at Wadsley Bridge anchor this area. From there, prices tend to rise as you head out towards Stocksbridge and the Pennines.

The M1 Corridor and Rotherham

Sheffield and Rotherham are practically joined along the M1, and for fuel purposes they should be treated as one area. The Parkgate retail park in Rotherham and the cluster of stations around Catcliffe (M1 J33) and Chapeltown (M1 J35) give you plenty of options along the motorway's edge without paying motorway service prices.

Woodall services, sitting between J30 and J31 on the M1, is one of the most used service stations in the country. It also charges accordingly. A full tank there can cost ยฃ7-8 more than at a supermarket forecourt just a few minutes off the motorway at Catcliffe or Handsworth.

Heading to the Peak District

Sheffield is the closest major city to the Peak District, and thousands of people head west every weekend for walking, cycling, and climbing. If that's you, fill up before you leave. Stations beyond the western suburbs thin out fast, and the handful of rural forecourts in places like Hathersage, Bakewell, and Castleton charge a noticeable premium - sometimes 8-10p per litre more than Sheffield supermarkets.

Our elevation finder is useful for planning Peak District routes, and the route planner can help you organise stops if you're visiting multiple spots in one trip.
